SIG AI Training Program

AI Training Built for
Technical Program Managers
and Scrum Masters

Not a general AI literacy course. A six-track program built around one question: what does your role actually look like when AI handles the work that doesn’t require you?

Why This Program Exists

Most AI training misses the point for TPMs and Scrum Masters.

General AI literacy builds awareness. This program builds capability — the ability to redesign how you work, not just do the same work faster.

Tool walkthroughs without workflow design

Knowing how to use Claude is not the same as knowing how to integrate it into your operating rhythm. Most training stops at the demo.

Generic prompts that don’t fit your role

A RAID log prompt written for a software developer is not the same as one built for a TPM managing a PI with five teams and a tight June deadline.

No mindset shift, just faster execution

Practitioners who skip the cognitive reframe become copy-paste users. They’re marginally faster and equally replaceable. That’s not the goal.

No governance, no accountability

AI output in a steering committee deck without verification is a liability. This program closes with the governance habits that protect your credibility.

The Core Framework

The TPM Value Ladder

Every task in program management maps to one of four tiers. The shift this program produces: AI owns Tiers 1 and 2. You operate at Tiers 3 and 4.

4
Judgment
Strategic prioritization, stakeholder trust, escalation decisions, political navigation
AI assists, human decides
3
Synthesis
Connecting information from multiple sources into a coherent picture for stakeholders
AI drafts, human refines
2
Production
Creating documents, status reports, agendas, RAID logs, summaries, event prep
AI owns first draft
1
Assembly
Gathering data, copy-pasting, formatting, reformatting, data extraction
AI should own this entirely

The Curriculum

Six tracks. Twenty-four artifacts. One operating shift.

Every track includes a facilitator guide, participant workbook, slide deck, and a Miro board specification. All labs use real program data — not hypotheticals.

Track 01

Rethinking the TPM Role in an AI-Native World

Half-Day  |  All Roles  |  No Tools

The foundational mindset session. Introduces the TPM Value Ladder, the three AI failure modes, and the new operating model. No tools — this session is about the cognitive reframe that makes every other track more effective.

Track 02

Claude Foundations for Program Management

Full-Day  |  All Roles  |  Hands-On Lab

Six labs. Six real outputs. Participants build their personal prompt library using their own program data — status reports, RAID logs, meeting synthesis, event prep, and iterative prompting practice. Every participant leaves with 8 to 10 tested keeper prompts.

Track 03

AI-Augmented Scrum Mastering

Half-Day  |  Scrum Masters & RTEs

SM-specific application: event prep kits, multi-sprint retrospective pattern analysis, impediment escalation narratives, team health synthesis, and a personal coaching prompt library. Runs concurrently with Track 04.

Track 04

Agentic AI for Program Operations

Full-Day  |  Technical Program Managers

From using AI to deploying it. Participants build multi-step agentic workflows: status intelligence, PI planning analysis, Jira and Confluence integration via MCP, dashboard overlays, and a Monday morning operating rhythm that runs before 9 AM.

Track 05

AI-Powered Stakeholder & Executive Communication

Half-Day  |  All Roles

Audience calibration, escalation narrative construction, steering committee prep in 30 minutes, and sensitive message drafting through roleplay. AI handles the first draft. Human judgment handles the relationship.

Track 06

AI Governance for Program Teams

2-Hour Session  |  Full Cohort

The closing session brings the full cohort back together. Covers output verification, data sensitivity rules, the five-step pre-send habit, and team usage policy drafting. Participants leave with a governance identity, not just a policy document.

Common Questions

What you need to know before you book.

Do participants need to have Claude before the workshop?

Yes for Tracks 02 and above. Claude.ai access is required for labs. A free Claude account is sufficient for most exercises, though a Pro subscription improves the experience. We’ll share setup instructions in advance.

Can we run only some of the tracks?

Yes. Tracks 02 through 06 can be delivered independently. Track 01 is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for any other track, as it provides the mindset foundation. We’ll work with you to design the right sequence.

Is this relevant for organizations not using SAFe?

Absolutely. The program is built on general program management and Scrum practices. SAFe terminology appears in examples but the skills transfer directly to any scaled agile, waterfall-hybrid, or enterprise delivery environment.

Can the materials be customized for our organization?

Yes. For enterprise cohorts we offer light customization — client logo, relevant data scenarios, and terminology alignment. Full brand customization is available under the Train the Trainer license.

How long does the full program take to deliver?

The full six-track program is designed for delivery over two to three weeks, with tracks spaced to allow participants to practice between sessions. Intensive formats (back-to-back days) are available for off-site engagements.

Who facilitates the sessions?

All sessions are facilitated by Dr. Josh Stephens or SIG-certified facilitators. You will not work with a contractor reading from a script.
