SIG Job Family Library
AI Supplement
for Technology Job Families
AI maturity expectations for TPM, Agile Delivery, and EPPM roles. From entry-level consumer to enterprise AI delivery leader.
About This Supplement
AI is not the transformation. It accelerates it.
The AI Supplement defines the AI maturity profile for every level in the three SIG technology job families: Technical Project and Program Management, Agile Delivery, and Enterprise Program and Project Management. It is designed to be used alongside, not instead of, the core job family guides.
AI maturity expectations increase with level. Entry-level roles are expected to use AI tools competently for their own work. Mid-level roles integrate AI into team workflows and delivery processes. Senior IC and leadership roles are expected to lead AI strategy, governance, and organizational capability-building.
IC Maturity Ladder
Individual Contributor AI Maturity
Six stages mapping to the T1-T6 IC levels. Each stage describes the expected depth of AI use, integration, and leadership.
Uses AI tools provided by the organization for personal productivity. Familiar with foundational AI concepts. Explores tools relevant to their role with guidance from more senior practitioners.
Independently uses AI tools to accelerate delivery work: drafting communications, generating status reports, summarizing meeting content, and structuring project artifacts. Builds personal AI workflows.
Integrates AI tools into team workflows and delivery processes. Teaches peers how to use AI effectively. Experiments with agentic tools for backlog management, risk analysis, or reporting automation.
Systematically optimizes program delivery through AI-enabled workflows. Identifies high-value automation opportunities across the program. Contributes to or leads AI adoption within the team or ART.
Develops AI adoption strategy for large programs or multi-program portfolios. Aligns AI tooling with delivery architecture and organizational capability. Coaches senior practitioners and program leaders on AI-enabled delivery models.
Leads enterprise-wide AI adoption in delivery functions. Defines AI governance frameworks, capability standards, and measurement systems. Partners with executive leadership on AI investment strategy and organizational readiness.
Leadership Maturity Ladder
Leadership AI Maturity
Four stages mapping to the M2-M5 leadership levels. Leaders are accountable not just for their own AI competency, but for building it across their teams and organizations.
Uses AI to accelerate management work: team communications, performance tracking, and delivery reporting. Creates conditions for direct reports to experiment with AI tools. Removes blockers to AI adoption at the team level.
Develops AI adoption roadmaps for managed programs. Evaluates and recommends AI tooling for program operations. Establishes standards and usage expectations for direct reports. Quantifies AI impact on delivery velocity and quality.
Owns AI strategy for the portfolio or delivery organization. Partners with technology and security to govern AI tool adoption. Drives organizational capability-building and measures maturity across the delivery function.
Sets enterprise AI vision for delivery functions. Chairs or contributes to AI governance forums. Shapes investment decisions on AI infrastructure and tooling. Builds the executive case for AI-native delivery models across the organization.
