The Program
Reporting Pack

Three free templates for showing leaders where a program really stands: a one-page status report, a PI progress and milestone report, and a tracker that proves the benefits landed. Built for any program, from kickoff to closeout.

Why It Matters

Capital in. Prove the value out.

Leaders fund programs to get results, but most status reports only show activity: tasks done, dates moved, budget spent. When the report is all green until the week it turns red, trust drops fast.

This pack gives your program a consistent way to report health honestly, show progress against what was planned, and track the benefits the business case promised long after go-live.

What’s Inside

Three templates, one story of value.

Each template stands on its own, and they’re built to work together.

Excel

Executive Status Report

Why it helps. One page a sponsor can read in two minutes: overall health, what changed, and exactly what you need from them.

What’s inside

  • Status and trend for scope, schedule, budget, risks, resources and stakeholders
  • Suggested overall status plus your own call, with the reason
  • Decisions needed, accomplishments, next steps and top risks
  • Milestones, budget variance and a status history tab

Excel

PI Progress and Milestone Report

Why it helps. Shows whether the program is delivering what it planned, with dates and value, not just activity.

What’s inside

  • Milestone tracker with baseline, forecast and variance
  • PI objectives with planned and actual business value
  • PI predictability calculated for you
  • Feature progress and a burn-up chart by iteration

Excel

Benefits Realization Tracker

Why it helps. Turns the benefits in your business case into measures with owners, then tracks whether they actually landed.

What’s inside

  • Benefits register with baseline, target, owner and measure
  • Measurement log for results over time
  • Progress to target and On track or Behind status
  • Closeout review questions for the sponsor

Common Questions

Before you download.

Do I have to use SAFe to use these?
No. The PI report uses SAFe terms like PI objectives and predictability, but the milestone tracker, status report and benefits tracker work for any delivery approach. Rename PIs to phases or quarters if that fits better.

What is PI predictability?
It compares the business value a team actually delivered with the value it planned for its committed objectives. It’s a simple way to show leaders how reliable the plan is from one PI to the next.

Why track benefits after the program closes?
Many benefits, like cost savings or faster cycle times, only show up months after go-live. Naming a business owner for each benefit keeps someone accountable once the program team has moved on.

Is it free?
Yes. There’s no form and no account. Just download what you need.
