Enterprise Program &
Project Management
Portfolio, program, and project management at enterprise scale. Business outcome governance without requiring deep technical domain expertise.
About This Family
Governing delivery. Not building it.
The Enterprise Program and Project Management (EPPM) family covers traditional portfolio, program, and project management roles. These practitioners govern delivery across complex, multi-team programs and enterprise portfolios. Unlike the TPM family, EPPM roles require sufficient technical literacy to engage credibly with technology delivery, but do not require deep practitioner-level expertise in the specific domain being built.
The IC track scales from individual project support at T1 through enterprise portfolio governance at T6, where Portfolio Manager roles are senior IC positions, not management roles. The Leadership track covers the management and director levels that build and run EPPM organizations.
EPPM vs. TPM: Both families deliver technology programs. The distinction is depth. TPMs hold practitioner-level expertise in the same technology or domain being delivered. EPPM practitioners hold enough technical literacy to govern delivery decisions, but their primary expertise is in portfolio governance, investment strategy, and business outcome management.
